I work with a fantastic church, the West Side Church of Christ, leading the CCSC, a ministry that’s had a profound impact on me. We love where we are. Especially in recent months, Katie and I feel like God is doing something special here.
It’s a huge blessing to love what you do. It’s doubly huge to love the people you work with. Katie and I love what we’re doing. We love where we are. And, we love the people we work with. We feel beyond blessed!
Our ministry staff at West Side is incredibly collaborative. In particular, our Senior Minister, Tim Tripp, is gracious in this way. He’s kind enough to share a chunk of the preaching responsibilities with me.
While I love to preach, I love the work of being a campus minister. Tim and our shepherds have given me the gift of using my gifts without being pegged as “just the campus minister.” Our team has a great spirit of collaboration.
One of the burdens God has laid on my heart is the incredible need for new campus ministries in my fellowship, the Churches of Christ. We’re developing a vision and plan locally to plant new ministries across the nation. I’ll also be releasing an eBook about this in the fall.
The Campus for Christ board, which I’m a part of, has been developing an initiative to tackle this issue. It’s mostly been groundwork up to this point. But, by the end of the spring 2017 semester we hope to send out multiple teams to new campuses!
Recently, I was approached by Stan Granberg, the founder and executive director of Kairos Church Planting, about forming a partnership with Kairos. Katie and I went through a Kairos Discovery Lab in 2012. We love the Kairos staff deeply.
Essentially, Stan asked if I could spend a few hours each week and travel a couple times a year, in addition to all of my current ministry responsibilities at West Side and the CCSC, to serve as the Pathways Director for Kairos.
Katie and I loved the idea so we took it to our shepherds and they gave it their blessing. We’re thrilled to add this new wrinkle to the work we already love so much. We think this will only enhance what we’re already doing.
As Pathways Director I’ll help recruit and train young leaders and help put them on a path to reaching new people in new places. Our hope and prayer is that this will help us identify more leaders who have a desire to go to university campuses as missionaries.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I really appreciate your support!
